forms site-specific, drag, mockumentary

title i want you in my room

In i want you in my room, a familiar documentarian follows the journey of a common house monster as it navigates the lush and intimate terrain of a human’s bedroom. The work is a digital site-specific performance and mockumentary reflecting on storytelling, fictions, nonfictions and queer expressions while using the mundane as a potent setting for shifts in perception, world-building and alternative ways of being. This offering for interplay_2021 is part of the research and creation of an ongoing body of work that Steph creates in people's homes.

Stéphanie Cyr is an independent dance artist, pro-amateur flower smeller and enthusiastic playlist maker. Their creative process includes physical scores, writing, making/sharing memes, snacking, playlists, drag, power naps and lo-fi filmmaking. Their love of pop, internet + queer culture often make an appearance in their work as well as their interest in sci-fi, fantasy and fiction. They are a queer, white settler working and living on unceded and stolen Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam territory.

Ted Littlemore is a dance artist living on unceded Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam territory. His artistic work draws heavily on his work in drag, especially on the philosophy that bad drag can still be great performance. As a dancer and dance-maker, he explores camp, theatre and story to support a practice of indulging in the fantasy of reference and show. As a teacher of all ages, Ted calls on this passion for indulgence as a tool to encourage artistry and joy amidst an ongoing technical practice. Recently, Ted has also been calling upon his experience as a musician, incorporating his history in jazz piano, a cappella, fake-it-till-you-make-it accordion, and a love of harmony (aww) to further layer his work with bonus content, curiosities and a More Is More attitude.
