Aug 26 ~ GUEST ARTIST Nonexistent Instruments (Frederick Brummer & Ron Luther) explore electromagnetic audio transmission, modulation and generation to create new instruments that bring music back to the body. In other words, you may be invited to walk through radiowaves.
"Nonexistent Instruments is born from love: the love of inventing and making, the love of exploration and play, the love of design and creation."
Aug 27 ~ GUEST ARTIST Luciana F. D’Anunciação explores her Brazillian heritage through Studies on FOMO and Brazilian Carnaval.
Luciana’s been having a recurring dream: "I’m in Brazil during Carnaval. I’m in the middle of a street, surrounded by thousands of people dancing, sweating, singing, and drinking. I wake up. I dream again: I’m in Brazil during Carnaval, but I can’t make it to the party. I can’t find anyone to go with. My phone breaks. I can’t call an Uber. I’m trapped in longing. I wake up and go about my day with a strong sense of fear of missing out—not only on a party, but on parts of myself.”
She invites Brazilian dancer Ysadora Dias to dance these dreams with her. Together, they explore the joy, grief and irresistible pull of Brazilian street Carnaval.
Aug 28 ~ GUEST ARTIST Margaret Dragu bio: 55+ years creating live performances/installations; 20+ years making digital art (streaming/hybrid) (live & on-demand); 60+ years teaching dance/fitness.
"I use techniques/approaches including: German Expressionist modern dance, burlesque, jazz, choreography-by-chance, aktion & performance art. These forms live in a bulging archive in my body. An aging body; thrilled & grateful for my two hip replacements allowing me to run around town using my red compass card."
With live music interludes by KAJ, aka Ahmed Khalil. Choose your night or come to all three!!!
