sharing rotoscope-animation + digital editing

In this maker_sharing, Mark will discuss his interdisciplinary creative process and guide participants through the rotoscope-animation and digital editing techniques he uses to translate documents of his movement practice into experimental animated dance films.

Mark Bath (he/him) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto. His recent work integrates performance and visual art. Someone Else’s Dream (2022), is part dance solo, part self-portrait; it was created with support from Tedd Robinson and presented at the Festival of New Dance (St. John’s, NL) and Fluid Festival (Calgary). What are We (2024), a genre-bending interdisciplinary collaboration with lighting designer Robin Peters and musician Matthew Samms, combines dance, animated film, an interactive light installation and a live DJ set, into an audiovisual performance piece that doubles as a dance party; the work had its debut at Hold Fast Festival (St. John’s, NL) and was remounted at CB Nuit (Corner Brook, NL).
